Work Progresses on Synagogue ceiling
Work is progressing on the painted and stencilled ceiling for a new Synagogue in South Manchester designed by AWA.
A Star of David grid has been set out in gold leaf on the curved timber ceiling, forming twelve stars, picked out in a turquoise blue, used in many ancient synagogues in the Middle East and North Africa from where the congregation traces its roots. Symbols of the Twelve Tribes of Israel have been stencilled onto the stars in silver coloured palladium leaf.
The ceiling will be revealed as the internal scaffold is removed and work on the interior nears completion
