Synagogue: South Manchester

The site of a new Synagogue to seat 200, together with a social hall, meeting rooms, offices and residential accommodation is a former farm in a Conservation Area in South Manchester. Entry is via the former barn with the new-build worship space linked by a light-filled, glazed foyer.

The new building has been designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing structures, whilst still announcing its use. A raised and curved lantern roof emphasises the central worship space and admits daylight via clerestorey glazing and large windows in the east elevation provide the opportunity for stained glass to complement a warm pallet of internal materials and finishes.
